A 96-bed, coeducational residence
hall—the first new facility built on campus in several
years, opened for the fall 2004 term to full occupancy.
The design was a new concept for the campus, featuring
16 townhouse suites. Each four-unit suite contains a
living area, complete with sink and cabinets to receive
microwave and refrigerator, and two shared restrooms.
The Hall itself consists of two wings connected by
a large reception area. Adjoining the foyer are public
restrooms, laundry, a multipurpose room, and a resident
manager's apartment, which is a self-contained, one-bedroom/one-bath
unit with living room and kitchen.
Finishes include wall-to-wall carpet in support areas
and living spaces, vinyl tile in individual student
rooms, and stain-crete finish flooring in the foyer.
A tongue-in-groove wood ceiling with exposed structural
timbers and pendant lighting exhibits an open, airy
and warm atmosphere.
An outside courtyard located between the two wings
beyond the foyer encourages social activities and gives
students additional informal meeting space.
